Giant Monkey Made From 10,000 Flip Flops

Dutch artist, Florentjin Hofman, is the one responsible for conceptualizing this enormous “Fat Monkey” sculpture out of 10,000 flip flops. Students from Sao Paulo helped execute the artist’s vision that uses flip flops – a long-standing trademark of Brazil. The large-scale reclining monkey was featured at the 2010 Pixelshow conference amongst other works of art that appear pixelated once assembled. The colourful flip flops were attached to air-filled segments that comprise the monkey’s body, making it appear large and puffy (and appropriately “fat” as the name of the piece suggests).
