UK-based product developer, Julia Hamid, has designed the Trio Sofa. A multifunctional sofa and table that morphs into a couple of different layouts that accommodate its user’s need to work on a laptop. The sofa has modern lines and looks quite conventional, but it gains its name from the three panels that allow it to transform. Swinging panels on the sides of each side allow for two laptop users to work simultaneously, or, only one table top can be used at a time. The Trio Sofa offers small-space dwellers a great space-saving solution – it’s really a mini-desk and sofa all in one. While it may not be comfortable (or ergonomically correct) to work on a laptop on the Trio Sofa for an extended period of time, the design is perfect for those who need to bang out a couple of hours of work in front of theTV with loved ones, or for those who only do occasional work at home. The Trio Sofa panels are made out of thin plywood and are light weight enough to flip up easily with the flick of the wrist, but are strong enough to support a laptop thanks to the upholstered cushions that help distribute the weight.
The Trio Sofa is currently in prototype stage and not yet available for purchase. For more information, contact the designer directly here.
